This page is an experimental one -- I've used photos before, but this is the first time I've really put the characters IN them. I like the results better than I like drawing trees, which I don't like at to do at all.

The meeting is in Central Park, which explains all the topless reading ladies. My current favorite feminists would have to be the Topless Pulp Fiction ladies (blog here and @ToplessPulp on Twitter). I wanted to celebrate their unique brand of progressive equalism, and the script DID call for bystanders, so...

Feminism and boobs is an accurate description for this page.

I keep trying to sum them up cleverly so that Google will notice me.

LOL! Topless reading club. To bad that wouldn't fly in Virginia.
And she's to short to be more than a medium cunt.

Those topless readers are the greatest, and they add such a great New York flavor to a comic being drawn in Oregon, of all places...

As for Arayna, she may be a bit short, but she packs a wallop. She's like cunt concentrate -- Cuntcentrate, if you will.

Just finished reading the archive. I might have to study your work for poses and shadow spotting.

Thank you for reading (I love readers). And wow, what a compliment. If you can learn from me, I guess I'm glad to have (accidentally) helped.

You should probably look at John Cassaday, Wally Wood, Bruce Timm, and any of the old EC Comics guys -- I borrow from them as much as I can muster. Frazetta too.

Getting away from the art (for once!), this page has a LOT packed into it. What are "Cloakers"? Are they some sort of living/undead device that is used to hide a area from outside view?

Three of your book club ladies seem to be extremely near-sighted (or are hiding their faces with their books). Interesting fact: up here in Ontario, going topless has been completely legal since 1991 (look up "Gwen Jacobs" in Wikipedia); although women have rarely taken advantage of this right.

In Panel 2, Arayna looks to have a pretty serious "bulge" - was this a conscious addition, a way the shading worked out, a "it will look normal when coloured" issue, or foreshadowing? I know Arayna is playing for the other team, but her speech pattern in Panel 5 is more reminiscent of Smiley that hers, IIRC. This leads me to believe that Smiley has been REALLY transfusing his blood into Arayna as an attempt to posses her (similar to the bullet that was in Kathryn's thigh).

Now, will Erica's "detectiving" skills kick in and allow her to even up the odds (as Artemis' sidekick) with a few well-placed sniper rounds, followed up with some general bad-assery?

I love checking my management page to find this kind of in-depth questioning. You make me feel like a Walking Dead producer. :)

Cloakers: They're a species of supernatural being that can hide other supernatural beings. MacKnight has several in his employ; he uses one in issue 3 to hide Linwood's theft of a lock of Oberon's hair. Here, he uses several to create a localized "cloaking field" -- with it, the book club ladies can't see his meeting with Kathryn.

Nearsighted ladies: I was drawing from news photos about the actual club, and don't want to get sued for likeness issues.

Ontario: And I'd assume that of all places to make co-ed toplessness legal, Ontario would be a bit on the cold side to take the law's freedom up on it (though, New York is often quite cold too).

Arayna's bulge: oops. Just shading in a rush. As for her speech pattern, she's been playing things restrained and close to the vest this whole time. Now she's impatient, and her speech pattern shows it* (the chilled look of shock on Kathryn's face is to show that she realizes Arayna didn't need any coercion to betray her).

(*And not to be TOO spoiler-y, but Arayna stars in the upcoming EK spinoff, so I've written a LOT of her dialogue between her last appearance in EK and this page. So some of the slight change in her "voice" is almost certainly due to that as well.)

Erica: she'll be in the next scene and will come to Kathryn's aid -- but Kathryn will be getting some perhaps somewhat unexpected help before Erica arrives.

...thanks so much for reading and commenting, this is such a hoot for me.

Fastest. Reply. Ever.

Cloakers are cool.
I understand the issues with the book club.
Southern Ontario gets hotter and more humid than Miami in the summer.
Reading back, I speculate that Oberon has seen through McKnight's ruse and is about to get medieval on him, or Robert discovering that he DOES, in fact, own a spine, or Julia finally grows up after 4000 years... lol

I do not know enough about Canada. Eventually I'll make it to come comic cons up there, and will learn more.

And I can't help now but reimagine that Will Smith hit Miami to:
"Party in the province where the heat is on
Shores of the Great Lakes, 'til the break of dawn
Welcome to Ontario
You know I'm goin' there-eo"

Oberon knows a LOT more than he's letting on -- but all the world's a stage, and he plays his part very dutifully. Painfully so, at times.

Robért's confidence is a long journey, and Julia has a long way to go before she really grows up. They both, though, will ride to the rescue with Erica.
