The suicide kit was a late addition to the story; in the script, she just drops the suitcase.
Then I thought, "Hey, there should be some granny panties in there, that would be funny!" -- but then I remembered that two of my favorite comics ever are Transmetropolitan and Preacher, and how both of those books had warped my sensibilities and blackened my soul like a catfish crack pimp.
So I drew what would be in there if this was one of those books. I was thinking of Ennis, Dillon, Ellis, and Robertson the whole time.*
Except when I was thinking of Joe Kubert.
The gun is my little tiny pathetic tribute to Mr. Kubert, an artistic hero of mine who died while I was drawing this page. If you look in his how to draw book, you'll find that I used his referenced drawing of a gun for reference.
Thanks for drawing, Mr. Kubert; you made us all better for it. Except me, with all my crappy lazy Photoshop crutching that's actually kinda harder than just drawing in the first place.
Oh, and in case you were wondering, the label on the bottle in Kathryn's suicide kit reads "Black Earl's Real Posion". It's really poison!

I bought a butterfly book used for basically pennies at Powell's Books about 12 years ago, and it finally came in handy.
Karma's wings were originally monarch wings, but this looked more graceful.
