Panel 4 made me have to go back and change Kathryn's cape on several previous pages.

I thought I had her costume nailed down when I started drawing, but I had to make several revisions as I went. The most notable being painting black over the brocade-esque pattern that used to be on the breastplate. It was a bit of a Michael Turner tribute which I hated to lose -- but I needed to start finishing pages within my lifetime. I now actually like the solid black better.

...but I still miss Michael Turner.

oh you mean you could have healed his wound or cut. I couldn't figure out why a persons shirt would need healing.

No, I mean she (with her ring) has the power to restore EVERYTHING in an injured person -- their skin, bone, blood, AND clothes.

She could have fixed the guy's shirt too, but she didn't. She only healed the wound and sent him on his way. She's in a bad place, and doing only the bare minimum.

The action in the last panel feels a bit stiff despite everything you've done to make it not. The blast of bright color, the way her hair and cape are moving, the angle, how she break panel--you used all the tricks but it still feels static somehow.

All that said your dialogue here is fantastic, really moves the page along well, he's a patronizing prick isn't he?

I saw you said you missed Michael Turner in your comment, he is, for me anyway, another artist I admire at the same level I do Todd McFarlane. His work was so incredible, like yours, and taught me so many little tricks. You're for sure on Turner's level Tibbittz, Todd's too, which I said to you before. From here all you're going to do is get better and since this is an older page--yeah, you're already better then you were here.

Pretty cool.

I have a lot of trouble with stiffness. I've always thought that panel was stiff myself.

Smiley is insanely fun to write. He rambles. You have to cut stuff. Then you're sad.

Thanks for comparing me (favorably, even) to big names like Turner and McFarlane.

CAVEAT: Deadline pressures got the better of me many times in the issue ahead, leading to overuse of copy>paste. I plan to remove about half of it by making new patch art as I edit forward.

Okay, the plot threads are coming together. The bad guy has a smile like the joker; and, like the Joker, the bad guy does not care about mere money. Instead, the bad guy is more interested in his duel with the main character. The main character has the godlike ability to heal mortal wounds, and even to repair cloth, it would seem. Nonetheless, the bad guy seems able to knock the hero down with a kick that seems rather mortal. Clearly, we have a number of mysteries to resolve. Having said that, the storytelling on the page is clear.

I am reading this comic through a second time. This time I understand everything, except for one thing. Why does Artemis drop her swords?

Very happy to have you! I hope you like the rest. (P.S. The comic is not dead, just going through a divorce + move, hence the hiatus.)
